1 Remember that Dolibarr root is the htdocs folder. The webserver has to point there
1) first of all: save your current file .../htdocs/conf/config.php
2) Now let's go to the level above the htdocs folder. Replace all of the files and folders by the ones from the new package downloaded (with the EXCEPTION of the documents folder files !!! keep your original ones without any change)
3) Desactivate temporarly the install.lock file by changing its name. I use to change it to install.lock_ZZZ You'll find the file in the documents folder. Without desactivating the file you can't run the install program
4) restore the file ...htdocs/conf/config.php that has been backuped in step 1)
5) Go to Dolibarr as you are used to, you will be redirected to the install page... then select the upgrade actual for you ... you should not have much more to do then you'll be done within a few minute
6) Then you can delete the ...htdocs/install folder for safety purpose
7) Then you can create a .htaccess file (empty file is ok) inside your htdocs/documents folder still for security purpose
8) Reactivate the install.lock file you desactivated in 3. Without doing you have left the server open for a security breach.
Once completed, you could login same as before but in the new version and all of your data will be there.
NOTE You shall always make a backup of the DB before you start upgrading
